Visakhapatnam: With an objective to take administration to the doorsteps of the people along with decentralisation, the government of Andhra Pradesh is moving towards offering registration of immovable properties at village and ward secretariats.

After successful response to the online registrations introduced at 51 secretariats, the government, following instructions from Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy during the launch of 'Jagananna Saswatha Bhoo Hakku-Bhu Raksha' has decided to roll out the facility at 2,000 secretariats in both rural and urban areas across the State by October 2. This will soon be introduced in phases at 15,000 places.

Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) Rajat Bhargava said they have launched a toll free number of Anti-Corruption Bureau, 14400 to allow people to register complaints if they come across any direct or indirect corrupt practices at the registration offices. With transparency becoming the government's motto, corruption will not be tolerated anywhere, he said and directed the district registrars to inspect sub-registrar's offices at least thrice a week to curb corruption. CCTV footage is ensured at all the secretariats and a public data entry system is being provided by uploading data on IGRS website.

"We want that one can walk out within 20 minutes after getting properties registered in a hassle-free manner without payment of any mamools," a senior official pointed out adding they are taking steps not to allow brokers in any form into the registration offices.

Jagananna Saswatha Bhoo Hakku-Bhu Raksha is an ambitious programme to digitise land records after conducting a comprehensive survey to prevent tampering with records and preventing land disputes. The scheme aims at providing all the information at just a click away so as to put a stop to the growing number of land litigations and court cases.
